Our inventory is based on general books excluding Japanese magazines and CDs. Out of stock merchandise can be special ordered either by any of our branch stores or through BookWeb U.S.A.. Please see "No.11 Out of Stock Items".
2. Hours of Operation
Kinokuniya BookWeb U.S.A. is always available for your convenience. However, we might experience interruptions of service in the course of maintenance or hardware upgrades.

Your PC must be
equipped to type in Japanese characters. If you have difficulties
searching for Japanese titles, please contact the store you feel most
convenient. The contact information is at the bottom of this help
menu.
When your PC is adecuately equipped, please use the same steps as in the
English book search that follows below.
<English Book Search>
a. ISBN Search
International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a 10 or 13-digit number unique to each individual title. If you have the correct ISBN number ready with you, please type it in without hyphens; this is the fastest way to find what you are looking for.
b. Title Search
If you have the exact wording of a title you are looking for, type that in to the first of the three ‘Title Search’ boxes provided, including words such as ‘the’, ‘a’, ‘in’ or ‘on’.
e.g. Who Says Elephants Can’t Dance?
If you are not sure of the exact wording of the title, then type one key word into two or three of the ‘Text Search’ boxes.
e.g. ‘Who’, ‘Elephants’ and ‘Dance’
c. Author Search
Searching order is: Family name; First name; Middle name(s) It is best to type the family name first, and after a comma, one space followed by, the first name.
e.g. Gerstner, Louis
d. Publishers Search
Type in the name of the publisher. Always remember to type less to retain more variant spellings that may exist in the database.
e.g. Charles E. Tuttle. Type “Tuttle”.
e. Category Search
Categories can be used to narrow your search. Please highlight the category that best watches your search.
f. Academic Descriptor
Publications categorised as academic titles are given Academic Descriptors that describe the subject headings in which the titles are classified. It helps to narrow down wide options during the search.
g. Publication Date
You can set a limit to your search by providing the publication date of the title(s) you are looking for. Specify the Year, Month range.
4. Stock Availability
Search results indicate available stock in Kinokuniya stores at the end of the previous day of business. If a book is not in stock, it will not show on the search result. Stock information is updated once per day. Please note that even though a book title is listed in the search result, there may be a possibility of running out of stock due to the timing of your order.
5. Pricing
Prices displayed on BookWeb should be the selling prices of those books at Kinokuniya’s branch stores. Due to price changes of certain items, including fluctuations in the exchange rate, the actual price may be different from the price on the screen. In this case, the selling price will be the price on the book itself. The price does not include sales tax.
6. How to Order
No membership registration is required. However, you must be a resident of either the U.S. or Canada. Please put any items of your choice into the shopping cart. Once you have finished your selection, fill in your personal details in the ‘Your Information’ section under ‘Shopping Cart’. By clicking ‘In-Store-Pick-Up’ or ‘Delivery’ and then ‘Check Out Now’ button, your order is complete.
7. Delivery/Pick-Up
We will send you an e-mail about the delivery date and your total price when your order is ready. Your order will shipped by local forwarders. No deliveries can be made to PO Box, APO or FPO addresses.

<In-Store Pick-Up>
If you request an in-store pick-up at the time you complete your order, we will send you an e-mail when your order is ready for pick up. Print the e-mail and present it at the store cash register when you visit us. Please pay when you pick up the merchandise. Prepayment is not required nor accepted.
8. Sales Tax
Items sold through Kinokuniya BookWeb, and shipped to destinations in the states of California, Washington, New York and New Jersey are subject to the appropriate sales tax.
<NOTICE TO CANADIAN RESIDENTS>
The recipient of a shipment to Canada may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Please contact your local customs office/United Parcel Services for further information.
9. Payment
Kinokuniya BookWeb accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and JCB.
10. Receiving Your Orders
<In-Store Pick-Up>
E-Mail confirmation may take up to 24 hours to receive. Items are ready to pick up when you receive confirmation e-mail. Books can be held for you for up to 7 days. Please refer to the e-mail confirmation for details.
11. Out of Stock Items
As for Items which are
out of stock, we can try to procure them for you from Japan by air mail
(Quick Order Services). There is no extra charge for this service.
It usually takes 2-3 weeks before we receive the items and dispatch them to you.
Please note that we do not guarantee the actual arrival date. We will dispatch
the item to your address. We do not have a service of an in-store pick-up.

12. Returns and Exchanges
All of our books are checked for quality before they are sent. However, if the items you receive are damaged or not in good condition, please contact BookWeb customer service.
13. System Environment
Your browser must be cookie-enabled in order to shop at Kinokuniya BookWeb. Cookies are short pieces of data stored by your browser which we use to identify you during the shopping session. If your browser is not cookie-enabled, or if you are using “cookie-trimming” software such as WebFree, Cookie Cutter, Guard Dog, Cookie Monster, or Watchdog, you will not be able to order.
