A presentation and discussion of various art media such as painting, sculpture, engraving, print, video, performance and installation, shedding light on the changing symbolism of blood through the ages. The work analyzes in depth blood as a symbol of life and death, health and sickness, and power and powerlessness. It also explores the diverse portrayal of blood in the official "high" culture of painting and sculpture and the popular "low" culture of caricatures and newspapers. It includes the works of modern artist Hermann Nitsch, Jenny Holzer and Marina Abramovic.
