Full Description

SQR in PeopleSoft and Other Applications Second Edition is a revised edition of the same book upgraded to the current versions of SQR and PeopleSoft. It covers the SQR language, the integration between SQR and PeopleSoft 8, and provides 100+ examples of close to real life code. "SQR in PeopleSoft and Other Applications Second Edition: PeopleSoft v. 8" is a revised edition of the same book upgraded to the current versions of SQR (version 6) and PeopleSoft (version 8). Written in 1999, the original book has been the best seller in its category. It has earned enthusiasm in the SQR and PeopleSoft community but has fallen behind the current versions of both SQR and PeopleSoft. This new edition is finally filling the void. Written in a "let's do it together" tutorial style, the book starts with the basics and leads the reader towards a full understanding of both SQR and its integration with PeopleSoft 8. The book is organized into three parts. Part 1 covers the SQR program structure, output page structure, main language elements, and controlling the output layout.
Part 2 addresses page breaks (one of the most difficult topics in SQR), arrays, working with multiple reports, graphics, interaction between SQR and other tools, Internet enabling, debugging techniques, and recommended programming practices. Part 3 covers all aspects of integrating SQR programs into PeopleSoft 8 environment, including interaction with the Process Scheduler, creating pages and components, defining security for various objects, calling SQR code from PeopleSoft online pages and how to make an SQR program PeopleSoft API-enabled. The four book's appendices include the complete syntax of all SQR commands and built-in functions, SQR command flags and describe all tables (modeled after the PeopleSoft HRMS database) used in the book's examples. Over a hundred of the book's examples contain lots of code covering the most typical tasks that any developer may encounter. Readers can download these code examples from the publisher's web site and use them with very little customization. Included: Complete SQR Command Syntax Hundred+ Practical Examples How to Integrate Your SQR Programs with PeopleSoft Covers SQR Version 6 and PeopleSoft Version 8
