The account describes the outbreak of the revolution in Italy, and the sequence of events thereafter, dominated by Radetzky's brilliant success in Lombardy. The strategy of the campaign is clearly described, as are such major battles as those of Santa Lucia, Somma Campagna and Custozza. Due to the paucity of material available on the military events of 1848-49, The Campaign of 1848 in Lombardy represents a notable reprint of hard-to-find information.
