"What is Shaker cooking?" asks Sister Frances A. Carr. The answer is basically cooking that is plain, wholesome and well-prepared. The recipes in this volume rarely call for more than a dozen ingredients, most of which can be found in the average kitchen. The short instructions should be easy to follow, and the results seek to demonstrate that interesting and tasty food need not be complicated. In addition to a wide assortment of recipes, the volume contains several recollections by Sister Frances of Shaker cooks who played an important role in her life.
