Chronological chapters assess Chaucer's impact on the Pre-Raphaelites, on W B Yeats, on Edwardian children's stories and on post-World War One authors. Ellis also considers modern translations and contrasts the relationship between academia's interest in Chaucer and his representation in the media and in historical fiction since the Second World War.
