Presents the newest development in life-mode analysis - a new cultural-historical development theory.
Full Description
This work presents developments in life-mode analysis that force us to see cultural analysis in a state perspective, presenting an alternative cultural-historical development theory. Seen in terms of cultural analysis, the objective of developing a life-mode theory is to solve some of the central structural problems posed by cultural theory, problems which have occupied the international scholarly debate in the social sciences. By developing a mode of analysis based upon principles of structural dialectics inspired by Aristotle, Leibniz, Bachelard and Hjelmslev the book can be seen as an attempt to go beyond these perennial problems in social sciences and humanities. The discussions in the text take their point of departure in classical theoretical problematiques in the social sciences and humanities and in the theories of science. It demonstrates how these central questions may be approached in a controversial manner in order to step beyond the classical problems of social theory.Consequently, it addresses itself to scholars from a variety of disciplines who are interested in elaboration of theoretical concepts bringing new solutions to the fundamental questions of state, society and culture.
