Full Description
After eloping with an heiress, Joshua was sold to the misery of plantation slavery in South Carolina. For ten years he has been kept alive by his longing for his freedom, his revenge, and the woman he was torn from. In the months before the outbreak of the American Revolution, his chance comes when he persuades his new owner, a charming womanizing gambler, to go to England and pass himself off among the aristocracy as the son of a duke. But when he gets to London as Joshua finds that the woman he loves is now a fashionable lady and married to a baronet. Set in the glittering world of 18th century England and America, this story of love lost and found is woven with a tale of two rogues having a high time in high society in a novel that is by turns funny, poignant, sensual, dramatic, and thought-provoking - but, above all, very entertaining.
