BECOMING A TEACHER IN TEXAS is designed to offer a broad overview of the knowledge and skills required to pass the ExCET exam for Professional Development. The Professional Development portion of the ExCET exam is mandatory for all persons seeking teacher certification in the state of information in a concise and comprehensible manner to prepare soon-to-be-teachers for the ExCET exam. It can be used as a supplemental or main text for a variety of teacher education courses, such as Educational Psychology, Introduction to Education, General Teaching Methods, or the student teaching practicum. Additionally, all authors of the text are education professors from many teacher preparation programs throughout Texas, including Texas A&M University, University of Houston, and the University of Texas system.
