Full Description
This title presents the state-of-the-art in molecular engineering and new developments in the fields of materials science, membrane biophysics, interfaces, sensing, and intermolecular interactions including molecular recognition.Topics covered are: the organization (orientation and association) of molecules in ultrathin films (monolayers) at the air/water interface; long range order in these films and in assemblies of such films on solid substrates; the interactions with solutes in the aqueous phase (including tensides, enzymes and analytes); and the potential applications of ultrathin films as nanometric modules in devices.
Contents
Chapter 1. Order in Langmuir monolayers and in the aqueous subphase Chapter 2. Analytic model of flow orientation in Langmuir-Blodgett filmsChapter 3. Equilibrium and dynamics of 2D aggregating mixed monolayers consisting of soluble and insoluble amphiphiles Chapter 4. Organisation of porphyrins in monolayers and monolayer assembliesChapter 5. Enzymatic reactions at interfacesChapter 6. Electron spin resonance spectroscopy of Langmuir-Blodgett films containing functional moleculesChapter 7. Biotin-streptavidin sensor surface: a versatile platform for performing DNA hybridization interactionsChapter 8. Applications of organised molecular films to electronic and opto-electronic devices
