Full Description
This book has been described as the 'bible' of muscle disease, from both a scientific and a clinical point of view. It is a comprehensive work that describes and illustrates in detail all pathological reactions of skeletal muscles that occur in human disease. The microscopic changes are illustrated by routine pathological techniques, histochemistry, immunocytochemistry, resin histology and electron microscopy. The pathological findings are correlated with the clinical picture whenever possible, and the interpretation of findings is scientifically based. To facilitate this process, the fundamentals of normal histology and biology of the muscle cell are also covered. This book has been thoroughly revised and expanded to provide up to date coverage of the relevant molecular biology and molecular genetics. It has extensive references, and is richly illustrated. The authors have been at the forefront of muscle pathology and neuromuscular research for 35 years.
