Full Description
The Villa Savoye in Poissy, recently renovated and re-opened to the public, is one of Le Corbusier's most impressive buildings. The clear building style without and compromises turns the Villa, located at the Paris perophery and built in 1931, into an epochal piece of modern architecture. Like a box floating in the air, the Villa was built on columns; its glowing white side walls, which can be seen from afar, are interrupted only by a long strip of windows. Thanks to Andre Malraux, the Villa Savoye was classified as a historic building in 1964, when the architect was still alive. In this guide, the building is presented to the on-site visitor, as well as to those interested in architecture, with numerous, partially unpublished plans and illustrations.
