Das Lehrbuch gibt eine Einführung in grundlegende Fragestellungen und Methoden der Schätz- und Testtheorie in der parametrischen Statistik. Behandelt wird sowohl die exakte als auch die asymptotische Theorie, wobei ein besonderer Schwerpunkt auf der Konstruktion von asymptotisch optimalen Schätzverfahren liegt. Der Text beruht auf einer zweisemestrigen Vorlesung zu diesem Thema, die der Verfasser vielfach an der Universität Köln gehalten hat. Vorausgesetzt werden nur Kenntnisse der elementaren Maßtheorie sowie der Grundlagen der Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie.
